Comedian Bill Maher has expressed his temptation to quit his show “Real Time” due to President-elect Donald Trump’s potential second term. In a recent podcast, Maher stated, “I’m s***ting my pants,” as he considered walking away from the program.
Maher attributed his decision to Trump’s continued presence in the news cycle and his own past critiques of the president. He recalled being one of the first comedians to call Trump a conman and label him a Mafia boss before anyone else.
Despite this, Maher acknowledged that Trump remains hostile towards some comedians but not himself. However, Maher disputed this notion, stating that Trump frequently tweets about him every week.
Maher’s guest, Jane Fonda, suggested he find a new topic to discuss rather than dealing with Trump, but Maher argued that the show is inherently tied to politics. He predicted that Trump will continue to dominate the news and make it difficult for comedians like himself to avoid discussing him.
