Bill Murray appeared defiant as he discussed the alleged “inappropriate behavior” on the set of Being Mortal, a 2022 production that halted filming after a female production assistant accused him of harassment. In an interview with The New York Times, Murray claimed he had no recollection of the incident and attributed it to a joke that seemed funny at the time.
The allegations led to Murray paying around $100,000 in settlement to the production assistant. He also denied hurling a glass ashtray at actor Richard Dreyfuss’s face during filming for What About Bob?. Instead, he said he threw the glass at the ceiling.
Murray acknowledged that his reputation for being volatile has stemmed from meeting numerous people each day and expressed frustration with being recognized everywhere he goes. A recent viral video of him lashing out at a fan in New York City was captured on camera, showing Murray telling the fan to leave him alone if they approached him again.
Despite the controversy surrounding Being Mortal, Murray is currently promoting his latest film, The Friend, co-starring Naomi Watts.
