William Chisholm, the leader of a group that agreed to pay $6.1 billion for the Boston Celtics, has built his fortune through investments in finance and leveraged buyouts. Born in Georgetown, Chisholm attended Dartmouth College before working at a Wall Street firm. He later joined corporate consulting giant Bain & Co, where he met fellow co-owner Steve Pagliuca, who also worked there early in his career. Chisholm’s financial background has enabled him to secure funding from a consortium of wealthy investors and firms, although even a portion of the massive price tag would be unaffordable for most Americans.
