Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has signed a four-year contract extension through the 2029 season, solidifying his commitment to the team. The deal marks Cook’s first major extension since being drafted by the Bills in 2022.
According to general manager Brandon Beane, Cook is a young talent who will continue to develop and contribute to the team’s offense. “We’re excited with where he’s at, and he’s still a young talent,” Beane said after Cook signed.
Cook burst onto the scene in 2024, showcasing his speed, strength, and vision on the field. He tied for the most rushing touchdowns in league history last season, scoring 16 touchdowns and recording over 1,000 yards on the ground. The fourth-year player has made significant strides since joining the Bills, increasing his production each season.
Cook’s extension joins a growing list of players from the 2022 draft class to sign long-term deals with the team. Cornerback Christian Benford, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, and linebacker Terrel Bernard have all secured extensions in recent months.
The 24-year-old Cook was originally drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played collegiate football for the University of Georgia before joining the Bills.
