Bills Mafia Reminds Fans, It’s Just Preseason Football

The Buffalo Bills kicked off their preseason slate on Saturday afternoon with a 34-25 loss to the New York Giants. While there were several positives from the game, it’s essential to keep things in perspective – this is just preseason football.

Bills fans should be encouraged by the performances of rookie defenders T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker, who showed promise at defensive tackle. Tyrell Shavers and Laviska Shenault Jr. also made a case for keeping six or more wide receivers on the roster, citing their contributions on offense and special teams. The likes of Joe Andreesen and Jordan Hancock flashed in their respective positions.

However, there were areas of concern for Buffalo. Running back James Cook was not played due to a hold-in issue, while safety Cole Bishop and wide receiver Curtis Samuel did not suit up. Tight end Zach Davidson struggled with two drops, and third-round defensive end Landon Jackson’s debut was forgettable. Cornerback Tre’Davious White also had an uneven game in his return.

One notable exception from the usual preseason overreaction is when it comes to injuries. Nickel cornerback Taron Johnson gave fans a scare during the first quarter but fortunately passed concussion testing and returned to the game, albeit without playing again.

As the Bills prepare for the regular season, fans should be mindful that this is just a preseason game. Overreacting can lead to unnecessary stress. So, while there were both positives and negatives from Saturday’s game, let’s keep things in perspective and look forward to a healthier and more competitive team come kickoff.
