Billy Bob Thornton played Tommy Norris in Paramount+ series “Landman,” which concluded with a dramatic finale that set up potential conflicts for its hero. Co-creator Taylor Sheridan may have intentionally put Norris through the wringer, as he was beaten and kidnapped by Jimenez, the local drug cartel leader.
Thornton joked about the finale’s intense scenes, particularly his collaboration with co-star Andy Garcia, who played Galino. The actor appreciated the experience of working with a “smart” character like Garcia, who is intelligent enough to outmaneuver Tommy.
However, the finale also introduced new problems for Norris. With his boss Monty (Jon Hamm) dying after being diagnosed with a heart attack, and then kidnapped by Jimenez, Tommy’s world was turned upside down. This unexpected turn of events made it unlikely that he would remain in an executive role at M-Tex.
Despite these changes, Thornton remains committed to the character and is likely to continue being a landman despite his promotion. Co-creator Christian Wallace believes there are more stories left to tell with Cami (Demi Moore), who won a Golden Globe for her performance in “The Substance.” A second season of “Landman” has not been officially ordered, but Wallace suggests that Sheridan’s plans will be exciting.
Thornton expressed gratitude towards co-creator Taylor Sheridan and his ability to weave in real-life anecdotes, like Jerry Jones’ unexpected cameo.
