Billy Gunn Won’t Attend AEW’s Return to Fresno

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) returns to Fresno on Wednesday, but one of its veteran stars will be missing. Billy Gunn, a 61-year-old wrestler with over 30 years of experience, won’t be in the city where he first wrestled for the WWF/WWE in 1994.

Gunn explained his absence during a phone call from Off the Top Rope. He’s taking a hiatus due to a recent falling out with his tag team partner, Max Caster. “It seems like that’s always how it goes,” Gunn said. “You know, once you kind get a little bit of notoriety, one thinks they’re better than the other.”

Despite this setback, Gunn remains in top shape and credits lifestyle and bodybuilding for his impressive physique at 61. He also expressed his love for wrestling as a way to be in a state of mind.

Gunn’s career highlights include being part of the Degeneration X faction during the WWF “Attitude Era” and winning three WWF tag team championships with his partner, Bart Gunn. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for his contributions to professional wrestling.

Gunn’s sons, Colten and Austin, also wrestle on the AEW roster. The veteran wrestler acknowledged that the industry has changed significantly since his days, but he still believes it’s “amazing” what can be achieved with good storylines and entertainment.

AEW will return to Fresno on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Save Mart Center, airing live on TBS and streaming on Max.
