Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus performed a marred show at Donald Trump’s Liberty Ball in Washington, DC on Monday night. The 63-year-old took the stage with his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart” and a duet of “Old Town Road” with Lil Nas X.
However, the performance was plagued by technical issues, including Cyrus’ guitar being cut off during the second half of “Old Town Road”. At one point, he asked the stage crew if anyone was awake and joked about whether they wanted him to continue singing or leave the stage. A crew member eventually fixed his guitar, allowing him to finish the performance.
The show didn’t go over well with fans on social media, who criticized Cyrus’ gruff-sounding voice and some questioned whether he was actually singing live or lip-syncing. Others mocked his outfit, which included a black jacket, dark-washed jeans, a multi-colored scarf, and cowboy hat. The event also featured performances by Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Parker McCollum, Gavin DeGraw, and the Liberty University’s Praise Choir.
