Billy Ray Cyrus, 63, will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural celebrations on January 19. The country singer joins other notable acts like Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, and The Village People.
Cyrus’s decision to participate has sparked controversy online, with many fans expressing their disappointment due to his daughter Miley’s public feud with Trump. In a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair, Miley called Trump “a completely racist, sexist, hateful**hole.” Their conflicting views put a strain on their relationship, and the family had a falling out in 2022.
Trump has also publicly mocked Miley, saying she must have been raised liberal due to her father’s perceived conservatism. The rift between Cyrus and his daughter reportedly began when Trump openly insulted her during a campaign rally last August.
Despite the tension, sources claim Cyrus has attempted to make amends with Miley by congratulating her on her Grammys and expressing interest in reconciling with her. However, it appears Miley’s feelings of disrespect toward Billy Ray may still be unresolved.
