Fifteen years after his last post on the BitcoinTalk forum, Satoshi Nakamoto remains an enigmatic figure in the cryptocurrency world.
Satoshi Nakamoto’s last activity was a technical discussion about protecting the network from DoS attacks. He also introduced the code update version 0.3.19 in December 2010.
Although forum activity stopped, Nakamoto continued private correspondence with developers like Gavin Andresen for several months. In one of his final letters, he requested not to be made into a mysterious figure.
The identity of Bitcoin’s creator remains unknown, despite recent claims from an HBO film that suggested Peter Todd was behind the mask. However, Todd denied such speculation.
In the past 15 years, Bitcoin has grown exponentially, becoming a global financial asset with a market capitalization of $1.8 trillion. It is now trading around $92,100 and has seen significant adoption by Wall Street giants.
Many public companies have added Bitcoin to their reserves, increasing exposure by 448%. The network continues to evolve with the emergence of decentralized finance and second-layer solutions like Lightning Network and Stacks.
A statue of Nakamoto was installed at the New York Stock Exchange building in December, created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi.
