The Chicago Blackhawks have announced their first major coaching addition under new head coach Jeff Blashill. Michael Peca, a veteran NHL assistant coach, will join the team’s staff. Peca, 51, has extensive experience in the league, appearing in 864 regular-season games and winning the Selke Trophy twice as a player.
Peca spent the last two years as an assistant coach for the New York Rangers, where he was praised for his patient and calm coaching style, which helped guide the team’s young talent to success. During his time with the Rochester Americans in the AHL, Peca worked closely with forwards such as JJ Peterka, Jack Quinn, Jiri Kulich, Isak Rosen, and Lukas Rousek, all of whom were high-profile draft picks.
With Peca on board, the Blackhawks’ coaching staff now has a strong foundation to build upon. His experience and expertise will undoubtedly be valuable assets in helping Blashill’s team compete at the highest level.
