Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Seek Protection for Private Messages Amid Justin Baldoni Legal Drama

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are taking steps to protect their private messages amid their ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. The couple has filed a request to keep their text messages with high-profile individuals confidential, citing concerns that Baldoni’s camp may leak them to the press.

Lively and Reynolds’ lawyer, Meryl Conant Governski, argued in court that such texts would have high PR value and could cause irreparable harm if leaked. The lawyer also requested a protective order be placed on information related to Lively’s mental health and security measures they’ve taken amid the feud.

However, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman hit back at the power couple’s request, calling it “unnecessary” and “offensive.” He argued that the proposed setup would unjustly treat celebrity people differently from others and suggested that a model protective order already provides sufficient protection.

Judge Lewis Liman didn’t immediately pass his ruling, saying he’ll give his view soon. However, he warned that since the case has garnered public interest, there is a presumption of public access in federal courthouses. The existing terms of the proposed protective order would already bar third parties from leaking sensitive information to the press.

The legal drama between Lively and Reynolds and Baldoni began after Lively accused him of sexual harassment on social media. Baldoni subsequently filed a $250-million defamation suit against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist, accusing them of conspiring to destroy his reputation and wrest control of the film from him.
