Blake Lively has faced backlash on social media for promoting her new film “Another Simple Favor” after being sued by co-star Justin Baldoni over alleged sexual harassment and emotional distress. The 37-year-old actress tagged in a Prime Video Instagram post was met with criticism from fans, who expressed disappointment and support for Lively’s accuser.
Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni and film producer Jamey Heath in December, alleging multiple forms of abuse, including sexual harassment, retaliation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Baldoni responded with a $400 million lawsuit accusing Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds of civil extortion and defamation.
The public feud escalated after unedited footage from the set of “It Ends With Us” was released by Baldoni’s team, claiming to refute Lively’s accusations. Lively’s legal team demanded a gag order be issued against Baldoni’s lawyer in response.
In a federal court hearing on Monday, the judge ordered that both parties follow the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, limiting their statements to the press. However, they can defend themselves against publicized accusations not created by either side.
Representatives for Lively have not commented on the promotion or the ongoing lawsuit, while fans continue to share their opinions on social media.
