Actor-director Justin Baldoni is taking on The New York Times in a $250 million lawsuit over a December article that allegedly exposed him to “sexual misconduct” claims from Blake Lively and other It Ends With Us crew members.
Baldoni claims he had an aggressive confrontation with Ryan Reynolds, Blake’s husband, at their Tribeca penthouse last year after the actor accused him of “fat-shaming” his wife. The director allegedly asked about Blake’s weight to ensure he could lift her for a scene, but she refused to rehearse with him despite using a stunt double.
The lawsuit also alleges that Ryan pressured Baldoni’s agency to drop him before the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in July. However, WME representatives have denied these claims.
Blake Lively has filed another lawsuit against Baldioni, seeking monetary compensation for mental pain and lost wages due to his alleged misconduct. Her attorneys say this lawsuit does not change her previous complaints, which allege administrative wrongdoing by Wayfarer and others.
Baldoni’s lawsuit is part of a larger case involving 10 plaintiffs who claim the Times invaded their privacy in the December article titled “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.”
