Blendo Games’ Space Shooter Skin Deep Lands on PC April 30

Blendo Games is set to release its latest sci-fi shooter, Skin Deep, on Steam on April 30. After nearly seven years in development, the game promises a unique blend of action, puzzles, and comedy, presented in the studio’s signature blocky 3D style. Players take on the role of a cryogenically frozen security officer who must navigate a futuristic cargo starship filled with valuables and space pirates.

The game features a mix of first-person gunplay, sneaking, sabotaging, and a unique stink system that alerts nearby enemies to the player’s presence. However, this mechanic is only activated when it makes sense narratively, such as when the player is expelled from the ship’s trash shoot alongside fish bones and rotting food.

Alongside the action-packed gameplay, players must also save numerous cats dressed in various outfits, including cowboy costumes. The game’s developer, Brendon Chung, drew inspiration from his love of first-person shooter games and wanted to explore new possibilities within the genre.

Skin Deep marks a significant departure from Blendo’s previous titles, which emphasized clever puzzles and polygonal oddities. This time around, the studio has focused on creating a more action-oriented experience. The game will be published by Annapurna Interactive and will be available on Steam starting April 30. A new demo is currently live on Steam as part of the Steam Next Fest event, which runs from February 24 to March 3.
