Blue Origin Prepares for Historic First Orbital Launch

Blue Origin, a private space company founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, is set to launch its New Glenn rocket into orbit on Monday morning. The final countdown has begun at the company’s Florida campus, where activity is buzzing with excitement.

On Sunday evening, CEO Dave Limp and other officials were spotted preparing for the historic launch. A massive replica of the company’s “Mk. 1” lunar lander dominates the lobby, while a print of the New Glenn rocket on its launch pad hangs prominently from the foyer wall.

Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin and Amazon, appeared anxious yet enthusiastic as he spoke about his expectations for the launch. The three-hour window opens at 1 am ET (06:00 UTC) on Monday, January 13. Bezos hopes to achieve orbit and deploy the Blue Ring Pathfinder into space. Landing the booster, however, poses a significant challenge – a goal that may be better achieved by attempting to land it in the ocean. Regardless, the company is aiming high with this historic launch.
