Blue Ridge Beef Recalls Pet Food Due to Salmonella Contamination

A pet food manufacturer, Blue Ridge Beef, has issued a recall of its Natural Mix pet food due to Salmonella contamination. The company recalled 5,700 pounds of the product, which was distributed in eight states across the US.

The affected product, with lot number N25/12/31 and UPC 854298001054, may cause symptoms such as lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting in pets. Humans handling the contaminated product are also at risk, experiencing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.

The recall was initiated after North Carolina’s Department of Agriculture collected a sample of the product on January 8, 2025, which tested positive for Salmonella. The FDA notified Blue Ridge Beef of the positive test result on January 27, 2025.

Consumers are advised to return the recalled product to its place of purchase or dispose of it safely, preventing access by children, pets, and wildlife. Pet owners should contact their veterinarian if their pet has consumed the recalled food and shows symptoms.
