Blues Hold Off Golden Knights in Thrilling 5-4 Win

The St. Louis Blues edged out the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in a nail-biting game on Monday, as Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn scored during a shootout after the Blues conceded two late goals.

In regulation, the Golden Knights tied the game with two goals inside the final four minutes, courtesy of Jack Eichel and Pavel Dorofeyev. The latter’s goal, scored with an extra attacker and 30 seconds left in regulation, forced overtime.

However, St. Louis regained the lead and held on to win. Schenn, Neighbours, Nathan Walker, and Cam Fowler scored for the Blues in regulation, while Jordan Binnington made 28 saves.

The victory moves the Blues closer to securing a playoff spot, as they are now tied with Vancouver for second place in the Western Conference. St. Louis has scored an NHL-best 51 goals since December 23rd, averaging 3.92 goals per game.

For the Golden Knights, Tomas Hertl and Brett Howden added goals, while Shea Theodore provided four assists. Vegas lost its sixth game in seven but remained ahead of Edmonton in the Pacific Division.

The Blues will conclude a home-and-home series with the Golden Knights on Thursday.
