Blumhouse to Reboot “The Mummy” with Lee Cronin

Blumhouse Productions, in partnership with Atomic Monster, is set to revive the iconic horror movie monster “The Mummy”. The project, directed by Lee Cronin, has been dated for April 17, 2026.

Cronin’s previous work, “Evil Dead Rise”, grossed nearly $150 million on a reported $12 million budget, showcasing his ability to create successful and terrifying films. For “The Mummy”, he promises an unprecedented take on the character.

“We’re digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening,” Cronin stated. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will co-finance the project, with notable producers including James Wan and Jason Blum.

This latest iteration aims to stand out from previous adaptations, including a late-90s franchise starring Brendan Fraser and an ill-fated 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise.
