BMW has officially launched the M3 CS Touring, a high-performance variant of its regular M3 Touring model. The new car boasts similar performance and exterior design elements to its coupe sibling, the M4 CS, and shares some features with the M5 Touring.
The M3 CS Touring’s aggressive exterior design includes a carbon fiber hood, splitter, rear diffuser, and air intakes, as well as red accents throughout. Its yellow DRLs and special paints like Laguna Seca Blue and British Racing Green set it apart from other M3 Tourings. In contrast, the M5 Touring has a more reserved design with staggered fitment alloy wheels and performance tires.
Inside, the M3 CS Touring features carbon fiber bucket seats, an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, and a carbon fiber reinforced plastic center console, giving it a motorsport-themed cabin. However, it loses out on comfort compared to the more refined interior of the M5 Touring.
The M3 CS Touring’s power output is 543 horsepower, with zero-to-60mph acceleration in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 186mph. In contrast, the M5 Touring boasts an insane 717-horsepower hybrid powertrain, despite identical 0-60mph times.
The technology features of both cars are similar, with the M3 CS Touring utilizing BMW’s iDrive system and offering ten-stage traction control. However, the M5 Touring offers luxury-focused features like a Bang & Olufsen stereo and individual interior upholstery options.
Pricing for the M3 CS Touring starts at €152,900, while the M5 Touring begins at €146,000. While both cars are expensive, enthusiasts will likely favor the M3 CS Touring’s performance capabilities. Unfortunately, US buyers have only one option – the M5 Touring.
