BMW has introduced the M3 CS Touring, a high-performance version of its station wagon that boasts 543 horsepower from its twin-turbo straight-six engine. The vehicle features retuned dampers and extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic to reduce weight by 33 pounds compared to the M3 Competition Touring.
The M3 CS Touring gains power by increasing turbo boost pressure, resulting in an additional 20 horsepower over the standard M3 Competition model. Despite this increase, torque output remains unchanged at 479 pound-feet. The vehicle is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and features stiffer engine mounts, as well as a cooling system and oil-supply system tailored for hardcore track driving.
Key features of the M3 CS Touring include:
* Electronic control of dampers, steering, and brakes
* Forged alloy wheels
* Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic trim
* Competition-spec bucket seats
The M3 CS Touring will be available in four colors: British Racing Green, Laguna Seca Blue, Frozen Solid White, and Sapphire Black metallic. Deliveries are set to begin in March for customers in Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Korea, but the vehicle will not be sold in the United States due to regulatory restrictions.
