Boards Seek Experienced White Men Amid Turmoil

Corporate boards in the US have become more diverse, but they’re now actively recruiting experienced White men to help navigate economic uncertainty. According to data from ISS-Corporate, White men made up a majority of new directors added this year at S&P 500 companies for the first time since 2017. The trend is driven by boards seeking CEOs with experience in handling tariffs and other challenges. Many of these executives started their careers decades ago, when leadership was less diverse, resulting in a disproportionately high number of White male candidates being selected.
