A rare typewritten draft of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” lyrics sold for $508,000 Saturday at Julien’s Auctions’ event featuring 60 items from the collection of late rock journalist Al Aronowitz. The auction also included a Fender Telecaster owned by Dylan, signed handwritten lyrics for “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and an original oil painting from 1968. Written by Dylan in 1964 while staying at Aronowitz’s home, the lyrics were initially lost but rediscovered years later through a thorough search of the archives. The sale of these items totals $1.5 million for Aronowitz’s collection, which included sketches and handwritten notes from other iconic sessions with artists like Doug Sahm & Band.
