Body Recovered from Utah Reservoir After Drowning Incident

A body has been recovered from Blackridge Reservoir in Herriman, Utah, after a 22-year-old man drowned. The victim, identified as Deng Ador, was found by a submersible robot used by the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) at around 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

The search for Ador began shortly after emergency dispatchers received reports of two men struggling in the water at the reservoir on Friday evening. One of the men, Sa Mafutaga, 21, managed to reach shore but returned to try and help Ador. Bystanders then entered the water to assist Mafutaga, who was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

Search crews used boats and a grid system to locate Ador’s body, aided by search and rescue teams from Bluffdale and South Jordan. The UHP dive team brought in the submersible robot, which recovered Ador’s body within 20 minutes. The cause of the drowning incident is currently under investigation.

The reservoir remains closed until further notice, and authorities are seeking witnesses to contact them at 801-858-0035.
