Boeing delivered 60 airplanes in June, the highest since December 2023, as the company seeks to recover from recent safety issues with its 737 Max jets. The delivery total includes 42 Max aircraft going to major carriers like Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
CEO Kelly Ortberg has made progress in improving production rates and quality at Boeing’s factory lines. However, the company still needs FAA approval to increase production beyond a monthly limit set after a door plug accident. Ortberg aims to boost monthly production of Max jets from 38 to 42 aircraft, which would be a significant improvement.
Boeing handed over 150 airplanes in the second quarter, its best performance since 2018. The company booked 116 gross orders and has a backlog of 5,953 planes as of June 30. Boeing will report its second-quarter financial results on July 29, with investors closely watching Ortberg’s plan to increase production and deliveries.
