Boeing Lays Off 396 in Washington State Amid Global Cost-Cutting Efforts

Boeing is cutting jobs worldwide, including hundreds in Washington state, as part of a global workforce reduction aimed at improving financial stability and focus. The company announced a 10% job cut plan in October, impacting approximately 17,000 employees. In the coming months, 2,199 workers in Washington state will lose their jobs, with eligible employees receiving severance pay and career transition services.

The layoffs are part of Boeing’s efforts to revamp its operations after a tumultuous year marked by safety concerns, including a mid-air blowout on an Alaska Airlines flight. The company has also faced regulatory investigations into its safety culture and has slowed production of its 737 MAX jet amid a West Coast strike. As the company continues to navigate these challenges, it is adjusting its workforce levels to align with its financial reality and priorities.
