Boeing Struggles as China Drops Orders Amid Tariff War

Boeing is facing a significant challenge after China, in response to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods, dropped orders for 41 completed or in-production planes originally intended for several Chinese airlines. The company is now trying to re-market these planes at a lower price.

The sudden loss of demand has left Boeing with empty production slots and reduced its expected deliveries to China from 50 to nine over the rest of the year. CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that the company will redirect supply to stable demand, effectively ending production for customers who are unwilling to pay the higher tariffs.

This development is a significant blow to Boeing, which could now be surpassed by Airbus as the dominant player in the global aviation market. The European giant is reportedly close to securing a massive 500-plane deal with China, further solidifying its position.
