Bolts Bounce Back with Strong Win Over Saints in Preseason Action

The Los Angeles Chargers returned to preseason action with a convincing 27-13 win over the New Orleans Saints at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Here are five players who stood out in the game.

Caleb Murphy, the Chargers’ outside linebacker, had an impressive outing, filling up the stat sheet with three tackles, 2.0 sacks, two quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Coach Jim Harbaugh praised Murphy’s performance, saying he “made a good case” for the 53-man roster.

Eric Rogers, the undrafted free agent cornerback, made two massive plays, including a pick-six in the third quarter that gave the Chargers a boost in the game. Harbaugh called it “one of the best plays I’ve ever seen.”

Trey Lance led the team with 48 rushing yards and 55 passing yards, using his legs to help propel the Chargers’ first touchdown drive of the day. Lance’s ability to escape sticky situations was a key factor in the team’s success.

Jamaree Caldwell, the Chargers’ third-round pick defensive lineman, had a strong performance, finishing with four tackles, a sack, and a quarterback hit. He was everywhere on the field, disrupting the Saints’ run game and showcasing his pass rush ability.

Dalevon Campbell, the undrafted rookie wide receiver, made several plays, including a 49-yard reception that set up the Chargers’ final touchdown of the day. Harbaugh praised Campbell’s ability to catch deep balls, saying he “has caught as many go balls” in practice.

The win was a significant boost for the Bolts heading into the final two preseason games, and these players are making strong cases for their inclusion on the 53-man roster.
