U2 frontman Bono made his world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where he received a 7-minute standing ovation for his new documentary “Bono: Stories of Surrender”. The film documents Bono’s one-man show of the same name and features never-before-seen footage from the Beacon Theatre shows.
During his speech, Bono acknowledged the contributions of director Andrew Dominik and actor Sean Penn, thanking them for their support. He also expressed gratitude to his team, including executive producers Jon Kamen, Dave Sirulnick, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Jennifer Pitcher, and Kelly McNamara.
The documentary hails from RadicalMedia and Plan B Entertainment, with a release date of May 30 on Apple TV+. This marks the latest in Bono’s ongoing partnership with the Apple platform, following his work on U2’s concert film “U2 3D” in 2007.
