Boogie Fland Joins Florida Basketball as Impact Backcourt Piece

Florida basketball has landed a major impact player with the commitment of 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard Boogie Fland. A former five-star recruit, Fland averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists in his freshman season at Arkansas despite missing significant time due to a thumb injury.

Fland will play alongside incoming transfer point guard Xavian Lee, who joins combo guard A.J. Brown as part of the Gators’ backcourt overhaul. The team lost All-American guard Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard to eligibility, while Denzel Aberdeen transferred from Kentucky.

According to Fland’s former high school coach Pat Massaroni, Fland is a winner with a dynamic playing style that can score, pass, and rebound effectively for his size. However, he must continue to improve his shooting at the rim in new coach Todd Golden’s system.

Massaroni credited Fland for coming back from a 10-week absence due to a thumb injury to help Arkansas make a run to the Sweet 16. He believes Fland is now back to full strength and has expressed interest in proving himself as a Top 15 pick rather than settling for late-first-round opportunities.

A substantial Name, Image, and Likeness deal reportedly influenced Fland’s decision to join the Gators, who offer top-notch facilities and resources that can help him transform his game and improve his draft stock. With Florida’s winning culture and Todd Golden’s system, Massaroni believes Fland has a great opportunity to succeed and grow as a player.
