Boost Sleep with These 5 Food Options

One in six people in Ireland are not getting the required amount of sleep every night, according to Spunout. This can lead to grumpiness and severe health dangers such as obesity, heart ailments, and diabetes.

A registered dietitian revealed that certain foods can actually help you wind down and get a good night’s rest. The key is an amino acid called Tryptophan, which is found in foods like fish, eggs, poultry, spinach, tofu, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, milk, cheese, and soy.

However, not all foods are created equal. Complex carbs like white bread and refined pasta can lower serotonin levels and disrupt sleep. Instead, opt for whole grains like popcorn, oatmeal, or whole-wheat crackers with nut butter before bed.

Warm milk and chamomile tea may also promote better sleep. The tryptophan in milk and the antioxidant apigenin in chamomile tea can help relax your body and mind. Drinking a cup of warm milk or sipping chamomile tea before bed can create a soothing bedtime routine that promotes relaxation.
