Boulder World Cup: France’s Mejdi Schalck Wins Gold

The fourth men’s Boulder World Cup of the 2025 season concluded in Prague, Czechia, with French climber Mejdi Schalck earning his first gold medal of the year. Schalck dominated all four problems, showcasing impressive coordination and dynamic skills that are characteristic of his style.

Schalck’s win marks his fourth Boulder World Cup gold medal, following a tough 2024 season where he failed to qualify for the Olympics. However, he has regained momentum this season, with top-10 finishes in Keqiao, Curitiba, and Salt Lake City.

Japan’s Sorato Anraku initially led the competition but saw his streak of consecutive gold medals snapped by Schalck. Despite finishing second, Anraku was pleased with the result, citing the challenging boulders and energetic crowd as positives. The Japanese climber has had a remarkable season so far, placing first at every World Cup event.

The final results showed Schalck’s 99.1 points ahead of Anraku’s 84.1. Samuel Richard tied for second with Anraku but placed third due to count-back.
