Bradley Hires Economic Development Director

Bradley, IL has created an independent economic development organization to promote business growth and retention in the village. The five-member board, led by President Jeff Downs, has hired Brian Pabst, 67, as its director. Pabst will earn $100 per hour and work 30 hours a week.

Pabst, who has over 40 years of experience in community and economic development, believes Bradley has “huge” potential for growth. He stated that the organization’s goal is to build a better village and determine what businesses want to be part of it.

The director will focus on business attraction and retention, as well as helping steer on-site management for the Bradley Sports Complex. His hiring coincides with the departure of retailer Big Lots from its location along Kennedy Drive.

Pabst’s organization will be funded through a financial contribution from the village in the $150,000 to $200,000 range, as well as grant requests and rental income from the Northfield Square mall. The board includes Pat Gilmore, Todd Gereaux, Dr. Sanjay Patel, and Jacob Carlile.

Mayor Mike Watson described Pabst as an “open book” who won’t shy away from bringing forth unwelcome news. With his extensive experience in community development, Pabst is confident that Bradley will see significant growth under his direction.
