Jade Collett, now 32, was misdiagnosed with a pinched nerve after noticing her foot turned outwards during a night of drinking at age 22. She initially thought it was related to her pre-existing hip dysplasia and dismissed the symptoms. However, the pain persisted, and she eventually sought medical attention.
Collett’s diagnosis revealed stage 4 glioblastoma, an untreatable brain tumor, but doctors later confirmed that treatment had slowed the cancer’s growth. What surprised Collett and her doctors was her remarkable resilience and prolonged survival beyond expectations.
Despite being given only two years to live, Collett has defied the odds and carried on with her life, including watching her daughter Grace grow up over the past decade. Her case has left medical professionals “gobsmacked” and is now attributed to a symptom that may have alerted her to seek timely treatment.
Collett credits her foot’s initial issue as the key factor in saving her life, allowing doctors to catch the tumor at an earlier stage. The 32-year-old mother of one says she feels “lucky” to have continued her life and is now more grateful than ever for every day.
