Brain Tumors Found in 5 Massachusetts Nurses

Five nurses working on the same floor of a maternity unit at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts have developed benign brain tumors. The hospital has conducted an investigation into the matter, collaborating with safety experts and environmental consultants.

According to NBC 10 Boston, the hospital discovered the five staff members’ health issue after receiving reports from colleagues who had previously worked on the same floor. After interviewing the staff members, the Occupational Health and Safety team found no environmental risks linked to the development of brain tumors.

However, the Massachusetts Nurses Association claims that the hospital’s environmental testing was not comprehensive, stating that it has received over 300 responses from staff members seeking medical records and a follow-up. The union argues that the hospital cannot dismiss the issue by providing a pre-determined conclusion without further investigation.

The hospital prioritizes the well-being of its staff and patients and plans to hold another town hall meeting within the next week.
