Fans gathered at The Paramount in downtown Bristol for a special live show featuring prominent figures from Atlanta sports, including former Braves pitcher Mark Wohlers, NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip, and Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello. The event, hosted by the Atlanta Braves, was part of a promotional push for the upcoming MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The live show offered unique experiences such as autograph sessions, photo opportunities, and insights from the guests. The event’s proceeds benefited The Paramount, a nonprofit venue that has served Bristol for nearly a century.
Waltrip expressed his excitement to attend the game, saying “I really want to check it out and going out to the field today standing at home plate seeing how cool it looks.” Wohlers emphasized the importance of expanding Major League Baseball’s fan base beyond big cities, stating “So I think it’s just a great way to expand the Major League Baseball fan base and bring baseball to them.”
Vitello called the game “a monstrosity” that will be remembered for years to come, likening it to the famous Colosseum. With over 85,000 expected attendees and national broadcast on FOX, the game is set to make history as the first MLB game played in Tennessee.
