Boston Red Sox fans have been re-evaluating recent trades, including the December 2023 deal that sent All-Star pitcher Chris Sale to the Atlanta Braves. Sale’s time with the Braves has been marked by strong performances, earning him a spot as one of the team’s lone bright spots despite an overall underperforming season.
Sale suffered an injury during Wednesday’s game against the New York Mets, fracturing his left rib cage while fielding a ball in the ninth inning. He was subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list by the Braves.
One year after earning his first Cy Young Award, Sale remains consistent, boasting a 2.52 ERA in 15 starts and a 5-4 record. This has been a rare bright spot for an Atlanta team struggling with injuries and poor play.
During his six seasons with the Red Sox, Sale established himself as a top pitcher, compiling a 46-30 record with a 3.27 ERA in 115 starts. He also won a World Series title with the team in 2018 and earned consecutive All-Star selections between 2017 and 2018.
