Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, a Brazilian nun who holds the record for being the world’s oldest person, has passed away at the age of 116. She became the oldest living person in January after the death of Japan’s Tomiko Itooka, according to Guinness World Records (GWR). Born on June 8, 1908, Canabarro’s life was marked by her dedication to Catholicism and her work as a teacher.
Growing up, many doubted she would survive to adulthood due to her slender build. However, she credited her faith for her long life. On her 110th birthday, Pope Francis gave her a blessing. The nun lived in various parts of Brazil before settling in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Canabarro’s love for soccer was well-known, particularly among the fans of Sport Club Internacional (Inter). Despite passing away on Wednesday, Inter club members paid tribute to her kindness, faith, and love.
