Brendan Fraser recently spoke out about Warner Bros.’ decision to cancel the completed film “Batgirl”, which he starred in as Firefly. He believes this move is a “tragedy” for young girls who don’t have a role model like themselves. The film, set to star Leslie Grace as Batgirl and Ivory Aquino as the first openly transgender character in a DC Comics movie, was shelved due to poor test audience reception.
Fraser expressed his disappointment, saying that Hollywood’s approach is more focused on “commodifying” content than releasing it to audiences. He noted that the production team was caught off guard by the cancellation and that many hours of work were lost. Despite this setback, Fraser continues to act in films like Rental Family, where he plays a struggling American actor in Tokyo.
