Brendan McNamara, a key figure in the development of LA Noire, is back with Rockstar Games after being acquired by the company. As the head of the newly-renamed studio, Rockstar Australia, he will oversee the production of upcoming games.
McNamara was previously the founder and director of Team Bondi, which developed LA Noire before shutting down in 2010 due to allegations of toxic work culture and crunch time. He has been working closely with Rockstar Games on various re-releases since then.
The announcement comes as Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive has narrowed down the release date for GTA 6 to an autumn 2025 window. It is unclear what specific projects Rockstar Australia will be working on, but with the launch of GTA 6 looming, it’s likely that they will be focused on supporting this high-profile title.
McNamara has spoken publicly about his past experiences and has emphasized the importance of acknowledging criticism and taking responsibility for workplace issues. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Rockstar Games again and looks forward to continuing their efforts to create exceptional games.
