The BRICS alliance is shifting its focus away from the US dollar, giving prominence to local currencies instead. Since 2022, cross-border transactions have been settled using the Chinese yuan, Indian rupee, and Russian ruble. The de–dollarization agenda is rapidly advancing, with many developing countries now considering using their own currencies for trade. As a result, various sectors in the US could be affected if BRICS ditches the dollar for trade.
