Brisk Walking Found to Cut Heart Attack Risk by Half

A recent study has found that incorporating three minutes of brisk walking into your daily routine could significantly reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. The research, which focused on women who do not regularly exercise, revealed a 51% decrease in heart attacks among those who engaged in just 3.4 minutes of “vigorous intermittent” activity each day. This translates to a 45% overall reduction in heart disease compared to non-exercising individuals. Even shorter bursts of activity, such as 90 seconds, saw a risk reduction of almost one-third. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating physical activity into daily life, particularly for women who are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
