Britain has agreed a new Brexit deal with the EU, allowing Gibraltar to join the Schengen passport-free area. Under the agreement, Gibraltar will abolish its passport controls with Spain and join the EU customs union. This will significantly reduce border crossings for the territory’s 15,000 daily commuters, offering smoother travel options. The EU Trade Commissioner described the deal as a “historic milestone” that brings legal certainty and removes physical barriers.
