British Airways Crew Member Found Dead in San Francisco Hotel

A British Airways crew member was found dead in his hotel room on a stopover between flights in San Francisco. The crew member failed to report for duty on a flight back to the UK, and his colleagues were left unable to continue with the flight. After raising the alarm with hotel staff, they discovered the body may have been undiscovered for up to two days.

The crew member had checked into a £150-a-night hotel in San Francisco after working a flight from Heathrow. He was due to return on Thursday but failed to respond to phone calls or messages. Pilots and cabin crew returned to the airport without him, leaving passengers stranded.

Despite efforts to accommodate them, the flight BA284, operating an Airbus A380-800, was cancelled at short notice. Passengers were not informed of the reason for the cancellation and were instead offered hotel rooms while BA staff tried to get them on other flights.

Airline bosses are currently investigating the cause of the crew member’s death. The airline has expressed its condolences to his family and friends, describing him as a “popular member” of the team.
