A British couple, Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and her fiancé Arno Els Quinton, 36, died after consuming allegedly poisoned limoncello in Vietnam. The friend of the deceased said they saw ‘black spots’ before their deaths, which occurred just three weeks into their engagement.
According to investigators, homemade limoncello bought from a local restaurant on Christmas Eve caused the couple’s demise. Two bottles were delivered to the hotel reception from another restaurant, police said. Todd Ford, a friend of the couple, visited them on Christmas Day and found Otteson in bed, complaining of a severe hangover and seeing ‘black spots’. She declined hospital treatment, saying she could “sleep it off”.
The suspect, bartender Le Tan Gia, 46, has been arrested for using 70% medical alcohol to prepare the limoncello.
