Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton expressed relief after his team’s wild 41-32 win over the Cleveland Browns on Monday night. Despite being outgained 552-235 in total offense, the Broncos’ defense made crucial plays to secure the victory.
The game was marked by three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, and a pair of third-down conversions that helped Denver move forward. Quarterback Bo Nix credited his team’s ability to stay focused on the next drive, rather than worrying about the score or previous mistakes.
Jerry Jeudy’s receiving total of 235 yards was the most in franchise history, while Browns quarterback Jameis Winston threw for four touchdowns and a league-high 497 passing yards. However, Denver’s defense ultimately made the difference, with cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian intercepting Winston to return for a touchdown with 44 seconds left.
The win keeps the Broncos at 8-5 and moves them into the No. 7 spot in the AFC playoff race. With a bye week ahead, Denver will look to build on this momentum when they face the Indianapolis Colts (6-7) on December 15th.
