The Denver Broncos are now fully aware of the stakes as they approach their crucial Week 15 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. With four weeks left in the regular season, the postseason race is heating up, and the 8-5 Broncos know exactly what’s at stake.
Head Coach Sean Payton acknowledged that playoff scenarios have become a pressing concern for his team, stating that he now discusses these topics with his players. Guard Quinn Meinerz confirmed that the team has a clear understanding of the importance of this game, saying, “We definitely have awareness of that… We know what’s at stake, and we know what kind of week we have to have in preparation for this game.”
A win over the Colts would give the Broncos a head-to-head tiebreak advantage and boost their playoff odds to 91 percent. Conversely, a loss would drop their chances to 51 percent, allowing Indianapolis to climb within a game in the wild-card race.
The team is aware that taking a step backward would relinquish their hold on the final wild-card spot, but they’re confident in their abilities to maintain their position. Tight end Adam Trautman emphasized, “It is a big deal… We know how important this is.”
Tackle Mike McGlinchey added, “Right now we’re in the driver’s seat, and we want to stay there.” The Broncos’ organization has been built around playing in big games, and Meinerz believes that experience has prepared them for high-stakes matchups like Sunday’s.
While focused on their game against the Colts, the Broncos are also keeping an eye on the bigger picture. They have a chance to move up further in the standings after their next matchup with the Chargers, and McGlinchey said, “We’re not talking about who’s behind us… We’re talking about what’s in front of us, and we’ve got to go get it.”
