Broncos Post-Wildcard Loss Grades: Evaluating Performance vs. Talent Level

The Denver Broncos’ 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in their Wildcard game may have come as a surprise, but one thing is clear – they were outclassed by the opponent’s talent level and playoff experience. However, despite this setback, the Broncos showed promise throughout the season and should be poised to compete for playoff spots for years to come.

Let’s take a closer look at how individual players graded in the loss:

Quarterback Bo Nix received a 71.2 grade, with both strong performances and questionable throws. Running back Javonte Williams had a respectable 57.2 grade despite being out of his element against the Bills’ dominant defensive line. Wide receiver Courtland Sutton shone as the team’s leading receiver, while Marvin Mims struggled to make an impact.

The tight end position was underwhelming, with Lucas Krull’s limited action hindering his overall performance. However, offensive tackle Garett Bolles played well despite a tough test against the Bills’ pass rush.

On defense, Zach Allen dominated the game and graded out at 81.5. The linebackers struggled to contain Buffalo’s running back, while cornerbacks Ja’Quan McMillian and Riley Moss had inconsistent games. Safety duo Brandon Jones and P.J. Locke were also criticized for their slow rotations and lack of effectiveness in coverage.

Despite this loss, the Broncos have a solid foundation to build upon. With experience and talent on both sides of the ball, they should be able to compete with top teams next season.
