Bo Nix, the rookie quarterback of the Denver Broncos, revealed during Monday’s locker cleanout that he suffered a transverse process fracture in his back during the team’s four-game winning streak. Despite playing through the injury, which occurred right before a crucial game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Nix did not miss any time and instead led the team to victories.
The injury, which involved three lumbar vertebrae, occurred on November 24th during a game against the Raiders. According to Nix, he received treatment and managed his pain, allowing him to play through the injury without missing any games. The team was fortunate to have an off-week following that game, which helped the injury subside.
Nix’s toughness and character were on display as he played all 68 snaps in a key game against the Raiders, despite wincing in pain after taking a hit. He completed several passes, including a 19-yard completion to Courtland Sutton, before suffering a setback due to the injury.
The Broncos ultimately clinched their first playoff berth in nine years thanks to Nix’s performances, finishing the season with 3,775 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes.
Nix said, “That moment was annoying, but we all play with something.” His ability to overcome physical challenges has earned him praise from teammates, including Mike McGlinchey, who described his toughness as “the No. 1 quality everybody likes about him.”
The Broncos’ playoff loss on Sunday marked the end of Nix’s rookie season, but his impressive performance and character have set a high standard for future success.
