The Denver Broncos are expecting a significant boost in their available salary cap space for the 2025 season. According to NFL reports, the base salary cap is projected to range from $277.5 million to $281.5 million, an increase of over $53 million compared to last year’s $255.4 million. This change affects the Broncos’ own projected cap space, which is now estimated at $41.78 million. The increased space will allow the team to be more active in free agency than they were in 2024.
The Broncos still have a relatively modest amount of available cap space compared to other teams, but this will give them an opportunity to make some moves in the offseason. Quarterback Russell Wilson’s contract still accounts for $32 million in dead money, but he no longer owes any cash due. The team is expected to use their cap space on several key players, including All-Pro outside linebacker Nik Bonitto and defensive lineman Zach Allen, who are both candidates for extensions.
With the Broncos’ wealthy ownership group, it remains to be seen how aggressive they will be in free agency. However, with this increase in salary cap space, they should be better positioned to improve their roster this offseason.
